Survival of the Children- Water 4 Life Project

In October, NAWA projects sent a team led by Liisa Wikstrom to investigate a funding application for Wells in the Central Region. They found several dried up wells from the 1970s and 1990s with the one remaining functioning well providing only grayish, dirty water for drinking. The amount of people accessing this single well was quickly leading to a complete drought. The need was dire for these villages and Survival of the Children went to work right away. NAWA members Liisa Wikstrom, Susan Norton, Rochelle McEvers, Mary Yeboah and Sarah Komem went out on several site visits making sure the wells were in sustainable locations that were accessible to a greater community. Thankfully we were able to drill two wells so that the wells will not be drained so quickly with too many people relying on just one. In just six weeks these wells were drilled and ready to use. The villages had fresh water in time for Christmas. What a great gift to the communities of Gomoah Afransi.
